I think I have to get this out so I can move on.
I ordered my Model3 that I’ve been researching for 4 months. I am north west of Buffalo, no Tesla showroom other than 10 hrs away. Closest Tesla Service Ctr, 2 hrs away. Still…I want my Tesla. 😊
Ordered August 5, in app.
Talked to ins agent, np, need effective date. Went to Cr Union, np, need $$ from MVPA. Own 2 vehicles, sold my purple Charger. 🥲. Received my Home Charger, had my electrician check out my garage, np, have 240 line, just need to tap it.

Got a notice August 24 to schedule delivery pickup. Now it starts…
When I click the link it tells me my pickup is in Mt Kisco , there is only a September calendar to pick date. I need a Home Dely, I cannot get to opposite end on NYS from WNY. I had no intention of going to Rolling Stone Casino either. I tried calling CS couple times, they keep referring to my SA. (I understand their limitations @ CS. ). I texted my contact number multiple times to have SA call me. I kept getting emails to scedule delivery, (no reply accepted on emails). I went to app & same thing: schedule, pick a day…

After 3 days & nights of this crazy, I figured they don’t even have my $$$ yet, how would this fly with me if they did & I had a problem???!!!

Cancelled the order. Have not heard word one from them…Why? How Come? etc.

Now my new car sitting sonewhere thinking I don’t love it but I do, it just ain’t happenin…🙁

After I decoded the post it's not adding up. Why would tesla try to send you to a delivery center in mount Kisco (6 hours away not 10) instead of Cleveland which is 2.5 hours away?
Not sure about “decoding” comment…unless sales agent & customer service letters confused you.
As I stated I could not get a sales representative on the phone to inquire about anything. My intention from the start was home delivery and I was not given that opportunity at any point.
New York State requires Tesla to register the car before delivery, could be taking delivery in another state would be an issue. Even though our governor touts the importance of going to electric vehicles, I don’t see open arms for Tesla.

I'm @Vickster's neighbor (not literally, but I'm sure within a 15 minute drive), and I indeed had to pick my Model 3 up in Mt. Kisco. My wife and I made a date of it... drove the 7 hours and stayed in a hotel in the area. Picked up the car the next morning and drove home. Totally worth it.

They did offer home delivery through a third-party carrier for $750, but I had a trade in and also wanted to see the car first... and third-party carrier sounds like it could be a sticky situation.

About this, it's a very different scenario than a typical dealership. A car salesman looks at you and sees dollar signs. At Tesla, their sales advisors aren't paid the same way, and they're super busy.

Historically, Tesla hasn't been able to keep up with demand. That may change, but the employees likely already have that engrained as part of their culture. Essentially, buying a Tesla is like self-checkout at a store. You were frustrated with the process and that no employee would help you, so you walked out and left your cart of groceries there. I'm not saying that's wrong, it just is what it is.

Thank you for replying to my post. I knew this would be a different experience of buying a car. I was anticipating hiccups along the way & just needed to get through delivery. The self-checkout is good analogy. I just couldn’t get the item in the bag to the pay now part.
I’m a firm believer in “Everything Happens For a Reason”.

Likely the issue is related to how the state regulates auto dealerships. If traditional car dealers influenced the delivery rules to require dealership delivery, that may explain the need to travel to get the car. Also, I’m pretty sure Tesla requires that the car be delivered in the state you reside in, or where the order initiated. That’s why you can’t go to Cleveland.

Owning a Tesla takes a different mindset. If you want to be an owner, you may have to be a bit flexible, sometimes REALLY flexible. Sit down and think about how you want to handle it. You got a couple of fantastic offers from your neighbor; reach out and see if you want to try again.
Thank you for reply. My flexibility appears to be limited by my backup support people. Not doing a trade-in, I would have had to ask someone to travel across state two days & back alone. Hence my choice for gambling on a perfect car, home delivery. If I did decide to try again, I would probably spend more time on phone talking to customer service center with delivery questions.

Thank you for reply. You are correct, NYS has decided to work closely with NY Dealers Assoc. , thereby really being strict with where/how Tesla can sell here. Couple downstate dealers grandfathered in but restrictions on new dealerships to broaden their reach. Last I read Tesla was in negotiations with Indian Reservation half way across state for a new delivery point. Credit to Tesla for resourcefulness. 😊

I just ordered a Model Y and I'm starting to navigate my way through the Tesla buying experience. I'm almost 7 hours away from the Mt. Kisco, NY location and learned of the Turning Stone location. I called Tesla and they have updated my pickup location to Turning Stone although this may delay my pickup they told me. I was wondering if my Model Y is in a parking ramp at the Turning Stone Casino who do I see the finalize any paperwork and payments? Where do I get the key cards? Can I assume someone from Tesla will be there the day of the pickup or will I be talking to a casino employee?
