On Jan 20th the Leaf hit 10,000 units sold in the USA. And they have been selling about 700 a month so they are well over 12,000 in US sales.

But did you hear the "daga-daga-daga" noise the diesel engine makes! You can see why BMW chose to use gasoline engine for the hybrid version of the i3.

Also why I wish they had made the VW an EV instead of hybrid. And made it 3 inches wider to provide a normal seating position. I think it would feel like riding on your passenger's leg, very annoying.

+1 on the why the hell wasn't it an EV? Give me 20kW/hr and a slightly more powerful drivetrain, price it at $40-$50k and I'm in.

@dpeilow - Can you recall (at least roughly) what charging rates (ideally in kW units) you were getting at the chargers?

Can't say I recall exactly. We saw 35 minutes to reach 80% SOC so I guess that's around 30 kW on average? Unfortunately I only discovered the Leafspy logging option after the trip. Pretty annoyed with that one.
