rust under front seats

I've worked on seat frames on everything from high end BMW's to low end Fords and every one has had some amount of surface rust. Nobody uses stainless for seat frames and I've never seen one that was coated.

Went to check my 2008 Acura MDX and 2014 Prius.... no rust under the seats that I can see.

Does anyone know if this is also an issue on the Made in China vehicles?

This is the frontseat of my September delivered MY, Made in China. So same issue there.

I have the same thing and 2 technicians at tesla said it was in all cars, not that it was acceptable or they would fix it but what a joke...never buying tesla again, their build quality it a joke and they think they can just put a *sugar* product out there bc they are the popular brand name right now....

I have a 2021 MY and the drivers seat started feeling loose and would shift back and forth.
When Tesla checked it out said a weld had separated and had to order complete new seat.
Does not make me confident about the other seats.

Damn I found the exact same pattern of rust on my new Model Y. Both sides. It's just been a month since delivery so I believe it's some design issue that has not been fixed for 3 years...

Just discovered this on my 2020 MY

Took it in to service, they said its normal, also the Loaner Y they gave me also had the rust. I ended up just painting it with Rust Reformer to destroy current rust and protect it from the future. Was like $7. You can refer to how it was in post above, mine seem to look worse than anyone elses.

Could get both sides by accessing from the front and back. Both driver and passenger seats. Also the hinge for the back of the seats. Everything else seems to be made out of stainless or coated materials.
