Scheduled Departure - cabin preconditioning

I like scheduled departure. I set it for 7am and it’s charged by sometime around 5:30am, and my climate control activates around 6:45 for a 7am departure. I just lucked out that my time of use electric plan happens to end at 6am (as Tesla has assumed) so 6am works perfect for me.

What happens if I don’t leave on time or stay home from work one day? Does the climate control run continuously until I turn it off or drive? Or does it stop after a set amount of time?

I park in a warm garage so I would prefer to turn off cabin preconditioning all together but I know that isn’t an option right now. All we get is weekdays only.

Could I avoid the cabin preconditioning by setting my departure time really late like 10am? Or would that just activate my climate control while it is parked at work?

Can anyone who tried this please chime in? I would like to learn from your experience rather than trial and error.

Thanks!
