you can't use any roof rack because of the FWD on Model X

Yeah! I'm super excited about trying this solution. We got the tow hitch on our X for bike and ski use but this seems a lot easier and less bulky, though it means my kids can't reach their own skis...

I would like to know if anyone with this rack has tried mounting it sideways across the back window, to allow fwd usage. Looks like it could work.

Well, only one FWD can be operate in his solution ( not sure what will happen if try to open the blocked FWD), but it looks good though. :)

I got the dimensions info from seasucker:

Length (outside cup to outside cup) 33"
    Total Height 9"
    Clearance height 6.75"
Our cups are 6" in diameter, so the width of the rack is technically 6"

It can be mounted similar to this:

Don't think you can mount it on the back window only (not enough clearance).

    Hi guys,

Just wanted to check on this solution. Can someone accidentally open the FWD and destroy everything or does the FWD detect the obstacle and stops?

You can probably cover the FWD sensor on the roof of the car with tape or something

Thanks but isn't there only 1 sensor for both doors? So, both doors will be non-functional...

What if you cover half the sensor?

Half the time half the door will open halfway.
