Seasucker ski rack-use and experience?

Anyone out there used the seasucker ski rack on their X? Wanted to see how it worked out and what range hit there was....

Yeah! I'm super excited about trying this solution. We got the tow hitch on our X for bike and ski use but this seems a lot easier and less bulky, though it means my kids can't reach their own skis...

I would like to know if anyone with this rack has tried mounting it sideways across the back window, to allow fwd usage. Looks like it could work.

Well, only one FWD can be operate in his solution ( not sure what will happen if try to open the blocked FWD), but it looks good though.

I got the dimensions info from seasucker:

Length (outside cup to outside cup) 33"
Total Height 9"
Clearance height 6.75"
Our cups are 6" in diameter, so the width of the rack is technically 6"

It can be mounted similar to this:

Don't think you can mount it on the back window only (not enough clearance).

You can probably cover the FWD sensor on the roof of the car with tape or something

Thanks but isn't there only 1 sensor for both doors? So, both doors will be non-functional...

And i have old school skis, which are a bit longer, but just as wide as the MX with mirrors.

Sea sucker works great. Just do not open trunk and then fwd. there will be some cracking sounds and damage. I have learned the hard way but the sea sucker is a clean, simple and quick install and release. I love the rack.

How do you think it’ll do with the range? It looks like it might have an adverse affect since essentially will go thru the air like a parachute. I was looking into this option as well.

I have not noticed a significant range decrease on my setup, same as those above.

no noticeable range reduction. i feel this is a very aerodynamic set up moreso than the hitch variety, and with less weight.
