I suspect it has to do with all the 80s - 85, 87, 280, 880, 680, 580 - over here. "The" just sounds odd next to an 80.

I graduated from school last summer, and moved to the Bay Area in August. Working in San Jose since. Invested all my past and future savings in the car , got delivery in December. This is my first car.
Congrats! My first car was a POS that was handed down from my Mom to my brother and finally to me. It was a Chevy Bel-Air and I paid $500.00 for it.
Just stumbled into this thread... Matt here, P85, took delivery in December of 2012. I live in San Jose.
Thanks GasDoc! The link you posted has the 'countdown' signature info....not sure it's the same as what I see on the bottom of some peoples' posts that shows their configurations and sometimes order and delivery dates. But I will post a few more times too so that I can have access to create a signature!
Los Altos here too. I feel like we have more Model S's in town than Prius'... I am always counting them on my commute to Palo Alto - typically between 3-5...I'm in Los Altos. There a number of others around here too.
