I have a hitch on our Model X. Worried about others pulling forward and "tapping" our car when parked (which already happened once, breaking a reflector), I first placed a piece of 2" x 2" x 8" wood into the hitch. IN ONE DAY, IT HAD A DENT!
So, I designed a simple "bumper" of 2" x 2" steel tubing (see photos). It is short, so that our garage door will close. It is high enough to stop most car fronts. It is the same color as the Tesla bumper and simple enough to be not to unattractive. ( I contemplated adding a rear-facing spike, but did want to be that mean to others.) I also have a fine Towever trailer hitch, but it necessarily protrudes much further, is unattractive and the garage door would hit it.
Perhaps some company will offer this or one that is similar.
BTW, the Weathertech bumper/step DOES NOT FIT into the hitch! It is (defectively?) larger than 2" x 2".
