Slacker: Play my Searched for Song!

is this normal?

When I search for a song in Slacker, say Michael Jackson’s Beat It, Slacker finds it. When I click on it, it doesn’t actually play the song. Instead, it creates “Beat It Radio” and immediately starts playing songs that are similar.

Is there a way to search for and play a particular song?

No, sometimes you may get what you want, other times not.
The free service is like a radio station. You can call in a special request, you may get it or not

This is due to the way free streaming is licensed, and is similar across free services.

Do you have an upgraded Slacker account? I don’t, so maybe that’s part of my dilemma.

not sure, that's how I was told to do it when I got my car, over 2yrs. ago, that's the way I have always done it, works every time, the next time your at the service center let them try it for you

consistently? So you can request 10 different songs and it is successful 10 times in a row? I am just trying to rule out good luck.

I would say it works for me half the time. If the particular song doesn't show on the radio station created I skip until it does; sometimes needing upwards of a dozen skips to get the song requested.

Mine has played every song I’ve asked for in my 20 months of ownership. Yes, every one.

Premium account will play any song/album with skip forward/back. It also will do your playlists. Well worth it for me.

$10/month. Sign up at slacker. Com. Then signon in your car with those credentials. Whatever you create in the web site (favs, play lists, etc.) will show up in your car. You cannot maintain (or even search) a playlist from the car app.
