SLS needs new boosters, because re-use would have been a good idea...

• SLS uses "heritage" components from Shuttle and Constellation programs
• There is a limited supply of said components
• SLS boosters will not be recovered (chutes were ditched for Constellation because of performance issues)
• So NASA has an RFI out for new boosters by flight 9
• Those will be required for Block2/Mars

I'd be willing to make a reasonable sized bet that SLS never reaches nine launches. I'd go with three or four maximum. Even less if BFR/BFS launches by 2021.
