Small rock chips in front windshield (2wks old)

The slope of the hood probably plays a role in stones hitting the windshield, as well as your speed and how close you drive to others. Even sometimes when you don't closely follow cars a stone thrown by another car even from the opposing traffic can bounce on the road and come and hit you. As far as I know there isn't something like Xpel for your glass windshield or roof to help with the chips by adding a layer of "bounce protection".

I think the best thing you can do is try not to follow close to cars or uncovered dump trucks carrying a load of dirt/rocks, avoid pothole areas (pretty hard in many areas) and look into glass replacement coverage on your automobile policy. A number of people here have said they have it and found it worth taking out. Also if you have small chips most auto insurance policies will cover you for Safelite to come out and fill any developing cracks before they grow. Well worth the call to have it done. Heat and cold can cause them to expand sometimes.
