Software at time of delivery

I have seen a lot of delivery checklists, but nothing really mentions the software version installed in the cars. Are people seeing the latest software installed? If not, can they push it during your pickup? also, what version is the most current that everyone should be asking for on their new Model 3s?

Are people seeing the latest software installed?

Sometimes. But not always.

If not, can they push it during your pickup?

The Service Center can do this, but typically they reserve that action for when you've not received a recent update. It's not a thing Store or Delivery Center staff can do.

also, what version is the most current that everyone should be asking for on their new Model 3s?

As of today, the latest version is 2018.14.13.

Don't worry too much about it — updates are pushed eventually to all cars. Tesla does a staggered rollout for a reason. If you don't have the latest software it's not an end-of-the-world thing.

What firmware you have at time of delivery is just not something you need to be concerned with. The firmware is being updated at least every few weeks, and if your car doesn’t have the very latest at delivery it will be pushed soon, and you’ll get another version soon after that, over and over again.

There’s no such thing as loading your own apps.

Also, aside from the software necessary to run the car, what else do they have loaded; what apps can we expect? Finally, can we load any of our own apps?
I would really take what you get. Would you rather have the latest and then find there’s an issue and have to deal with that on a new car, waiting for a fix? As was said there is one ‘software’ (firmware) variable and it’s what version you have. Once you get the car, you can start obsessing over what version has what new features and when you will get it. But wait until after delivery for that. :D

What are you even on about? Where in my question was even the hint that I was complaining about something I do not even have yet? I asked if there are apps loaded to the car aside from the software to drive and operate the car, and if it was the kind of interface that you could load your own apps to (such as Waze). None of that is a complaint, it is the question(s) of a person trying to pass the time until delivery (eventually) happens..

Delivery specialists use good judgement in last minute downloads. If a recent download has some issues, they may think it better to keep it as built, and wait until an enhanced (debugged) release becomes available.

I am like a little kid at Christmas when I hear about a new update going out to the fleet. Always hope to be one of the first ones, but have learned patience about these things.

Brousing these forums certainly helps pass the time waiting for your delivery date, and also brings you up the learning curve so you will be knowledgeable about your new car on delivery.

Last time my X was in for service they automatically upgraded my performance to the latest standards. Resulted in a reduction in 0-60 times by over 1 second. They also upgraded my firmware to the next level.

It is simply amazing how much better my Tesla has gotten over my first year of ownership.

Tesla...it drives like no other.

This is not like Apple Car Play. You can run things from your phone and connect that, but otherwise all is on the car computer.
