I thought with the delay they might have added filler video info for anyone coming to the site at the originally scheduled time. Guessed wrong. At least for me the delay is still for a reasonable viewing time considering it's a Sunday night before the work week. Not so much for you guys further east.
It looks like an area of weather started forming prior to the opening of the launch window, just a couple of miles north of SLC-40. It's since been moving stubbornly northeast. Nothing showing up behind it, so perhaps 12:45 will be the ticket.
A few quick screen grabs from tonight while we wait for second stage startup. I think John Insprucker is my favorite of the announcers. Just like his voice on the play-by-play. I loved the look tonight going up through the clouds.
The fairing release happened so fast I almost didn’t see it. Hope we get to see the final landing photo posted on the drone ship.
Nice nominal mission! Glad to see that the booster landing was a success, I was concerned about the heavy seas rocking the ASDS. I wonder if the octograbber was employed. I assume so.
Hey Telesat, how about you make some of that broadband available here in Canada? I'm still stuck on 5mbps service that frequently reduces to less than 2mbps and pay more for it than most people pay for Fibre. The local ISPs constantly complain that it's too expensive to offer faster speeds to rural communities but that shouldn't be a problem for a satellite.
Question: what exactly does the Octograbber do? Guessing it somehow secures the upright Stage 1 on the deck so it doesn’t tip over? I’ve seen a photo of it but not I guess when it’s in use and can’t picture how it works.
BTW I did feel a bit nervous when we were waiting to hear if the satellite was in a successful orbit. Seemed like forever. Kind of like when Stage 1 is landing and the images goes out ...
and you wait to hear applause from mission control. It’s really amazing how quickly these satellites get deployed. Realize we get spoiled when then it’s something with a different orbit. I was still glued to the screen for the Roadster though and it was so worth it.
