SpaceX Internet Satellite Network: Starlink

Hard to say how big of a deal this is really going to be, but France just rescinded Starlink's license. It mostly seems like the initial approval just didn't follow the proper process; one can probably assume that its just going to go back to square 1 and then get approved at some point and the media will get their clicks and politicians will get their flex.

That said, the more cynical view (and for those who haven't had the pleasure of dealing with France, its not completely tin-hat stuff...) is that it is plausible The France License Man was strong-armed into the reversal as a result of the [no doubt, heavily] subsidized European constellation that's slated to become operational...maybe...(in like 6-8 years)...

Big picture France is probably not a huge needle mover either way for Starlink, as France has pretty good terrestrial and mobile penetration, is a pretty densely populated country (like 2-3 times CONUS), and has a crazy low number of current satellite internet subscribers.

Surprised this hasn't been linked yet--its been making the news cycle lately: SpaceX discusses Starlink service with Delta Air Lines

Clever use case extrapolation in the comments section about a fundamental shift in safety by streaming 'black box' data.
8 satellites per day.

Not per week, month, or even year. I suppose that's the sort of output you need when you're chucking 40-60 every other week into orbit.

During the Starlink webcast today, Kate showed a service coverage map (screen cap below) and said it was available at starlink.com but I can’t find it on that site.

Win-win for everyone. There weren't a lot of options for that airline since their routes mostly go over the wide expanse of the Pacific Ocean.

This might imply that Starlink is expecting to get laser links working over the Pacific within a year and a half or so.
Seems like a pilot service. (Badum tssshhh).
Will allow Tesla to test their space lasers.
