I would be suprized if any of this came true. A focus on serving society well, which Tesla has, transcends this kind of thing.

If you were sitting on 20billion barrels of oil (bigger than Bakken formation), like Texas recently discovered (allegedly), how much do you think you'd support transition to EVs or acknowledge man made global warming?

Since pollution is an externality the only capitalist thing to do is to delay EV transition and drill.

Does it though? Plenty of examples of the masses believing a carefully placed set of lies, despite being clearly contrary to the evidence.. See: Evolution and Climate Change denial. The public largely believes one thing despite of the science being clear for decades/centuries.

Yes, it does. Not always on 'our' timetable or in a manner we'd particularly like, but yes. It does.

I think there is still enough middle class that crowd sourced financing of the Model 3 asking for more mistakes faster will bury the rich trying to buy an outcome.

I'd think there are enough clever people here to both hack all their Sosial media accounts as well as perform a nice coordinated DOS-attack against their web page? Who's in?
A more-than-fair warning:
"Dear Darth Koch,
If the oil old guard's media offensive makes the Tesla/Musk story into one of a righteous underdog, then your target will virally become more powerful than you imagine."

Please keep it up, Darth NADA and Darth Koch! Either way you lose long term, either by Tesla's ascendancy or later by sheer economics.

Yes, Tucker lost, but Tucker didn't have Twitter.

That's $5 TRILLION U.S. DOLLARS!!!!

and they complain about $5 Billion?

Tesla received only a fraction of the subsidies the Big Three and oil industry have received

"As you can see, it’s clear that the government has been subsidizing the ‘Big Three’ in a much more significant way than it has with Tesla, yet we can’t find a campaign called ‘Stop The Big Three From Failing Again’ from the Citizens for the Republic despite their supposed mission against public money going to corporations.

They seem much more preoccupied with ‘Stop Elon From Failing Again’ campaign and their fight against Tesla and SolarCity."
