Great news guys it looks like they’re under construction! Looks like they are doing the trenching and basic prep for electrical. I work about five minutes away so I’ll try to give some updates every few days. Pictures below.

Awesome, thanks! I see it's been added to supercharge.info so no need to page those guys to this thread.

Now let's see how many stalls, urban vs regular, and V2 vs v3. On the latter my guess is v2.5, which I'm told is easier to upgrade to v3.

Pretty sure it will just be urban chargers, just like at Lenox. Traffic wise it is not the best location for a real SC anyway
IMO, the next place for a northern SC should be the North Georgia Premium Outlets. It's good central location in North Georgia that would help bridge a pretty big gap for anyone who has to travel round trip north without getting anywhere near the existing SC's on 75/85 and are not going as far as Knoxville or Ashville.

I agree, I think even better would be Dillard, GA as that connects nicely to Ashville, Greenville, Knoxville or Chattanoga

I really hope they are not Destination Chargers, we need 150kw to 250kw so folks can get in and out faster. Lots of Tesla in Alpharetta/ Milton area. 72kw would be a waste. I agree that the spot is not the ideal location, the parking is tight. They should have put one by North Point Mall because its going to redevelope pretty soon.

Destination Chargers (often just 6.6 kW, but some rare stations up to 19 kW if your car has dual chargers; 208V or 240V Alternating Current charging) and Urban Superchargers (up to 72 kW on all cars; 480V Direct Current charging) are not the same thing.

I stopped by today. The trenching is done and now the conduit is being laid in. If you look at the LAST photo (taken from overhead) you get a really good view of it. At center are the four huge conduits that will go from the transformer (not there yet) to the switchgear / distribution closet at left. From there, five medium conduits lead to the SC cabinets, which are out by the street, a little odd. From there, three small conduits lead to 3 of the stations (left/west of the cabinets), and I believe we'll see conduit for another 7 stations going in the other direction (right/east of the cabinets).

I did not spot any cabinets or pedestal footings or anything else nearby like I did when I was monitoring the Lenox build about a year ago. They are likely staged offsite until the concrete is done and they are ready to place, because this is a super tight area with lots of foot traffic.

I stopped by today. The cabinets are definitely going behind that brick wall across the street; in the first two pictures here you can see the conduit in place. The trench in the Tuesday photo above is already filled back in and covered in smooth asphalt. Fast -- Avalon does not screw around!

Back by the stations at the edge of the parking deck, the conduit is all in place and buried, and it clearly IS going to be a 3+7 layout, for 10 stations total. This aligns with conduits showing that there will be 5 cabinets. No cabinets or pedestal bases or anything else were visible. I'd expect the next steps to be placement of the pedestal bases (JIT delivery) and then concrete forming and pour.

There's some odd small metal conduit installed in a trench at left; this will NOT be for a supercharging pedestal. I think it's going to be for lighting or something. Maybe for restoring the Chargepoint station, but I think it's too crowded there to fit.

Note: you have to click on each individual photo below to view all five. The thumbnail preview generation failed for two of them during upload, and that apparently also breaks the ability to just page/advance though all five photos.

So the Avalon SC is coming along fast, I have a question. There seems to be 3 different connections coming out the ground. There are 2 different set on the outside and 1 row on the inside. Will there be SC on the inside and outside of the garage ??

Superchargers outside with bollards at the head of the parking stalls. The parking signposts will eventually be coming out of the middle of the bollards, but haven't been installed yet. Inside the garage, looks like they are adding additional L2 stations.

Fantastic! So it is indeed a 3+7 layout. And that weird conduit at left was for a light pole.

That blue tarp is covering the wires that will go into the transformer. So now it's waiting for the utility (Sawnee EMC, not Georgia Power) to drop the transformer. Was there a concrete pad for it?

Were the cabinets in?

Any sign of the Chargepoint station that used to be there? Of course there are other J1772 sites at Avalon, just wondering.
