Pan fried in a tasty batter
I'm from the Beaumont area and back in that neck of the woods every few weeks. I'll make a point of going by there and posting updates when I can. It is an excellent location...easy off and on. Beaumont has needed a Supercharger for a long time. It was always to far between the Superchargers in Lake Charles LA and Channelview TX (and now Buccees Baytown TX).
Thanks! We go through there about 4 times per year, and I'm interested in the progress.
Hey, hey! The Beaumont supercharger site is already under construction. The crew says that construction began two weeks ago today (therefore started on Aug 8). They are quite far along. I will post photos later this evening.

wow.. permit filing to (possible) completion in less than 8 weeks !!
Here are today’s photos.
The location of the chargers is at the front of the parking lot, right next to the street and against the sidewalk, taking up most of what had been a garden bed. This is the south side of the parking lot on Walden Rd. You can see the location relative to the street and surrounding buildings in some of the photos.
There are 3 V3 cabinets. From the photos it looks like there are 10 pedestals for the chargers. But it also appears that they are doing some work across a driveway on the west side, so perhaps a couple more chargers will be placed there for a total of 12? It’s a little hard to tell at this point.
They have recently poured concrete for the base of each charger in the main area, run the conduit, and placed forms for the V3 cabinets and panel box. It looks like they are in the process of placing the forms for the utility charger platform.
One of the photos shows the 3 V3 cabinets, a panel box, and 3 boxes containing the chargers, waiting patiently to be placed.
It’s all a bit of a jumble at the moment. But they are moving right along!

The permit had a start date of 8/22 which just happened to be the day we went by, but they had actually gotten started 2 weeks prior.
The permit lists a completion date of 9/22 which certainly seems doable given how much they have done already.
Interestingly other permits I’ve read seem to routinely list a completion date a year out from the start date.
Anyone that routinely travels in this area, or just happens to be driving by on I-10, it would be great to get more pictures of the construction progress.
One of the crew implied that power would be provided via a pole, taken from the power lines across the street. I'm also curious about that part of it.

These are not great, but they are the best I could do in the rain. If it ever stops raining here, I will go back for better ones.

Great! Thanks! I was wondering if two more chargers would be installed across the entrance driveway, and there they are!

With the transformer and meter there it certainly looks possible. They sure have a lot of cleaning up to do!
It looked like they needed to pour concrete. Not sure how they’re going to get that done with this incessant rain! It was kind of hard to tell though so maybe I’m mistaken.
