This is great but what about downtown Toronto???
We are all assuming that there will be a location in downtown Toronto, but are we making too much of an assumption? In 2017 Tesla has a pin in the map for "Toronto" That pin is in the centre of the city name in the middle "O" of Toronto on the map right at city hall at Queen and Bay. But Tesla puts all undetermined sites on the city name on the map.

So what does Toronto mean in this context? Does it mean downtown? Maybe.

Does it mean the amalgamated city of Toronto? Probably not as they also specify locations for North York, Scarborough and Etobicoke which are all within the amalgamated city of Toronto.

Does it mean the pre-amalgamated city of Toronto? Probably, but that doesn't necessarily mean it is downtown. And how do you even define downtown? Maybe the site could be someplace like the portlands? Maybe Tesla has a deal with Cadillac-Fairview now as they are building at Markville and Sherway Gardens which are both Cadillac-Fairview malls. So maybe the SC will be at the Eaton Centre which is another one of their properties.

But Tesla has also specified locations for Liberty Village, Yonge and Eg and the Annex for 2018 - these are all within the pre-amalagamated city of Toronto. Maybe the "Toronto" location will be merged into one of those locations.

Is that micro-analyzing the situation enough?

Can you give an example - it doesn't appear that there are any SCs on Manhattan as of yet. Lots of coming soon but none open yet. Boston has one in the Prudential Center which is a large office complex. There are also zero in San Francisco as of now.

Chicago and Boston seem to have locations in the core. Those cities are comparable to Toronto in population. Boston is small but Chicago is about par.
