Sheesh. I was about to head that way. What in the world is going on?!Stopped by this location today. Still not operational.
I still see it shown on the map as grayed out with label of "Target Opening in Q1 2023" That means it's in somewhere in the continuum of "wishful thinking, but we don't have an actual location picked out yet" to construction complete but just awaiting final inspections, approval, and final testing by Tesla to turn on the site.Tesla has this location listed on their site as a Supercharger. Does that mean that it is operational?
Based on what little we know, I would guess that it's not an Ohio or a Butler County issue at this point. It just sounds like the contractors hired by Tesla had a substandard installation and that it appears that Duke Energy and not the county is the one putting the kibash on the whole thing. If that's the case then we now have 4 entities involved: Duke Energy, Tesla's contractor company, Tesla itself and the county. When there's that many parties involved in a dispute that may involve legal proceedings then that's not a recipe for things getting sorted out quickly. If anybody swings by this or the Fairfield site and the contrators are working, it would be interesting to ask them what caused them to get on Duke's bad side. Perhaps shoddy materials used or shoddy workmanship? Or both? Not sure if they would answer or not but it would be interesting to try.I think this was a pre-fab install, I am curious about how this could be messed up so badly. Does Ohio have some type of different electrical code, or was there an install error?
Also for anyone that understands how they wire 12 stall chargers, is there a chance the county is having them get power from more than one transformer. It seems like they were sending wiring to additional transformers
Doesn’t look like any progress has been made driving by today. This install has been a complete debacle as they have left the backs off of several chargers to allow the elements in. The pictures really say it all. Oh and the digging work near the transformers appears to be a fiber optic company performing work.I wonder if Tesla would consider retrofitting these with the new magic docks since they're not yet operational.
