Is there any difference between the pre and post face-lift tailgate?

I have a ding in my post-facelift tailgate and can get a pre-facelift one at a good price.

The liftgate is the same, but some of the older pre-facelift liftgates had a problem with water leaking into the trunk area after a heavy rain (or a car wash.) This was due to improperly fitting gaskets in the tail lights. The difference is subtle, but you can distinguish an older pre-2015 liftgate by the size of the cutout in the ends of the chrome fascia strip. Here's a picture.
