Tampa Delivery ???

Thursday, 9/20 10:30am on my way to Tampa delivery center for 11:30am meet to pick up my M3DP+ -
Get a call during the 1hr drive, "delivery can't happen, vehicle did not pass delivery inspection.". I questioned what happened, Did not know why, just said will be back in contact ASAP.
Got home check online and VIN number removed - had to call insurance to not switch it over to the VIN I had
As of Sunday afternoon, no new date for delivery.
Friday tried calling/email my delivery specialist (and their backup) no response.

Frustrated - no so much the date was changed but, radio silence on a) what happened and b) potential remedies

I had the same thing happen earlier this month in Tampa. Made the call to insurance and even called the bank to let them know I may request a different car. No details from the person calling, only that they were instructed to call. You should hear from the manager on Monday, she was always very good at getting in contact... this happened more than once. And of course, I finally got the call of can you be here tomorrow to pick your car up. Very disorganized with limited information...I know they are over worked with deliveries but not quite sure why there is so much disinformation. Example, my car was delayed because the 12v battery needed to be changed. It had been sitting in the Tampa lot for about three weeks. After first delay, new battery didn't arrive when they promised it would. In the meantime, I did manage to have them let me look over the car and I found nothing major. I felt good about the car. Amazingly after that, I got the call that my car was ready for pickup. No straight answers on what happened with the battery. After I took delivery, I received a call that they wanted to send out mobile service to change the 12v. What? RWD, Vin is 46xxx, June build, but seems in very good condition compared to what I have read on here.
My take away: a) look everything over to your satisfaction... they are very accommodating. b) don't pay or sign until you are happy... you are in control with the check and/ or ACH c) as most have stated on here, you will enjoy the car after this unfortunate delivery process is compete

Still nothing from them?

I’m sorry to hear about your situation. Unfortunately the delivery teams (usually) don’t know why a vehicle didn’t pass inspection (at least right away), and the cars don’t always arrive early enough to get inspected/detailed/corrected in time to accommodate any of these unforeseen issues.

Personally, I’ve had *incredible* experiences with both Erick and Wyatt out of Tampa, but Tesla’s internal and external communication problems are a systemic issue that’s not easily solved. It’s typically not the customer-facing reps dropping the ball, but they are the ones who take the abuse and the blame.

TBH, everything at Tesla is a logical nightmare. I do think it’d help if they had service technicians at the various transportation hubs for inspections and running diagnostics/software updates/ordering any needed parts for the local service centers to repair/replace. It’d be a much more proactive and communicative method to get any needed repairs/corrections prior to cars being shipped to the service/delivery centers. It wouldn’t be a perfect solution (things can happen on trucks too), but I bet it’d fix ~80% of these issues...

But then again, I’m just an anonymous voice on the internet. What do I know?

Sorry to hear about your experiences. Hopefully, everything has gotten sorted out and you've received your vehicles. Out of curiosity, were you scheduled to pick up at the center in Brandon or the new center in Tampa? I have a tentative delivery date for 10/31, which was originally scheduled at the center in Brandon, but it has now updated to the new service center located at 11945 N. Florida Ave
Tampa, FL 33612. Didn't realize they had opened already.

I don't think the new location is open yet. It was listed on my paperwork as well when I took delivery the beginning of September. I picked my car up at the Brandon location.
Interesting, my delivery location was originally listed as the Brandon Service Center, but changed to the new Tampa location a few days ago. Guess I'll find out when I get the confirmation to pick up the car.

Ordered my LR AWD with aero wheels in Tampa on June 3. Tesla system has rescheduled delivery 3 times and once was my fault. Now delivery advisor is suggesting I pick an inventory car because she has no idea when my car will arrive. I do have a vin but not sure that it means anything.

Looks like Tampa has oodles of SR inventory but the LRs are pretty scarce. Does anyone have recent experience? Not sure what to do.

Just to clarify I want the tax credit. Car waiting on is Model 3
I would recommend calling Tesla directly. When prompted to input zip code ignore it. It will send you to a delivery advisor call center where they can ping the car and give you an update on when you should receive it. That's what I did for my delivery for Orlando.

Scheduled everything through there and got my window sticker as well as MOTOR VEHICLE AGREEMENT FORM.

Phone number : 1-888-518-3752

Thanks, I’ll give it a try. Sounds like a good workaround.

The call center and ignore zip code trick was super helpful. Found out the car is scheduled to arrive in Tampa on June 26 and ready on 27. I have a business trip on 27 but should at least be able to get the car before the tax credit expires. Thanks James88 for the info. And wonder if there is any way to get the car on the 26th, because client was really looking forward to riding in a Tesla. I’ll call again in a few days and see if anything changed.

Just picked up our LR RWD that I found in inventory last week. Was afraid the LR RWD that we had on order would not arrive by the end of the month. Our delivery agent kind of confirmed that tonight. She said all cars would be there by the end of the month except the LR RWD. Had a pleasant surprise in that floor mats, including the frunk, were included for free.

Part of the premium interior! :)

An inventory car came up today in Tampa, that was the same as my order except without self driving. So I figured why wait for the custom order when the inventory car just needs software unlocked. But sales advisor said the Tampa inventory car is actually in CA just routed to Tampa. My order is in transit in New Mexico, so it is actually closer than the inventory car. So for Tesla, it seems inventory just means not spoken for.

No such issues but I was having issues with the charger. Went to delivery center today and got a replacement one that works. They tried a couple of them and those had the same problems. It seems that some of the mobile chargers have their latching notch off by a few millis which causes the charge port to fail to latch and this it does not charge at full 32A rate. Be sure to to plug-in the charge at the delivery center to make sure it works before you leave the place.

Everything else with the care has been working great so far...
