Full article at:Dalhousie University has announced a five-year research partnership with Tesla Motors to develop better lithium-ion battery technology, the university announced in a news release Wednesday.
The automotive and energy storage company's chief technical officer, JB Straubel, signed the agreement with Dalhousie lithium-ion battery pioneer, Dr. Jeff Dahn in Halifax on Tuesday.
This marks the first time Tesla has signed a research agreement with a Canadian university.

According to the news release, Tesla plans to open up the electric car and sustainable transportation market beyond being a "niche market" and produce hundreds of thousands of cars per year. That would bring down the cost of the pricey Tesla vehicles for the masses.
