Hi,

I am little frustated with the Tesla Delivery team. Every week they say the car will be delivered by the end of the week and every week they fail.
Everytime I call or email they either don't know when the car will be delivered or they promise a date, but still no car.

Does anyone know how to get this fixed? Who else can I call? Left 2 messages to the Tesla Headquarters, no one called back.

Also the car was supposed to be delivered in Dec 2016, mid January, still no car. Tesla representative say that I can still benefit form the tax incentives, but reading the IRS forms I am not that sure.

Any ideas?

Thank you.

Put the timeline on here and others may be able to match the dates with their orders and options

When did the email informing you that your car is in transit arrive?
Given your Oregon location, 1-2 weeks afterward would be a reasonable target.

The federal tax credit remains, and you are allowed to take it in the tax year of sale/purchase/delivery provided you have a tax liability in which to offset which is normally the case. I do not believe the VIN year dictates eligibility. There are always cross over year deliveries.

Edit: I thought I saw you located in Oregon and now I see it's listed as W.
Where are you located?
Edit Edit: it says Oregon again. ;)

The car was supposed to be deliver no later than Dec 29th. Which was less than 2 weeks after the papers where finalized. It's 15 Jan, still no car. Car was picked up from an existing inventory, no custom order

VIN year does not matter. You can buy a 2012 loaner (It's called "New Inventory", not CPO) from Tesla and still got 2017 Federal tax credit.
I am hopping that from tax point of view delivery means when the car was payed(finacially delivered).

Oh sorry, I am not familiar with the Inventory or CPO processes. I hope you did not pay in full and complete final paperwork prior to taking possession though. Regardless, I'd contact Tesla customer service at HQ off their website to get clarity to your status. Good luck.

@stefan.bc,

I suggest writing down the date you were asked to pay in full, the date you did so, and each of the promised delivery dates and the "excuse" for not delivering.

Then ask for contact info for the manager in charge of Tesla's service centers. Present him or her with the facts and ask for your car ASAP, plus compensation for the time you did not have use of it. Have a specific amount in mind, maybe ask for accessories, or extended warranty instead of cash.

Good Luck,

GSP

Called HQ twice, left messages but nobody called back

I did this to, will try again, they keep saying I have to talk to the delivery specialist. Seem like he can't do anything as he's not the one scheduling the deliveries.

Just called TESLA 5 min ago again, same thing :(

The 8936 instruction says:

"You placed the vehicle in service during your tax year"

It doesn't matter that you got a receipt that you fully paid 2 years ago but you didn't sign off until this year and now that will you receive the car (placed in service) then 2017 is that what counts.

I saw that last week, called Tesla and talked to the delivery specialist, they still say I can do it for 2016.

Closest one is 3-4hrs away. I could have picked up the car 10 times by now but every time I mention this, they say my car is next inline.
I'm starting to think there is something worng with the car and they are still fixing it.

Not to make light of your situation but if true that could be a blessing in disguise. Think about the stories of some cars shipping with obvious blemishes. If it happens that your car was held up due to a final QC failure then they are doing their jobs and that si good news for all. ;>

Best of luck. You will get your car. Enjoy! I am three years away.

If I felt I exhausted all reasonable options, I'd be in the car along with my paperwork and on my way regardless of distance. And if I paid in full in advance, I'd have been in their face waiving my paperwork long ago.

Can you lay out the timeline of events involved here?
