I hope this was the best real estate deal ever, because it was a really dumb PR move. It's another opportunity for the haters to put "Tesla" and "Solyndra" in the same sentence. How long until we see reference to this in a Holman Jenkins column?

There are many people who were against the stupid government deal with Solyndra and the shady crony capitalism underlying the deal but have no problem at all with Tesla and/or SolarCity buying the remnants of Solyndra fiasco.
Even though SolarCity and Tesla are technically different companies, Musk is connected to both of them, and the CEO of SolarCity is his cousin. It would make sense the two companies would collaborate closely on a real estate deal.
According to the two articles above, the SolarCity space is on Kato Rd (and can be seen from I-880) while this new space that Tesla has leased is on Page Ave (a little further from the freeway).
