I'm a little surprised about the complaints about the browser. When I did my test drive in an S the browser was fine. In fact, I brought up my webmail in one tab, opened an email, then opened a pdf attachment. t all worked great. The Tesla store was in Rockville, MD.

I do have a couple of questions:

if you open multiple tabs does the browser remember them when you get into the car the next time?

Has anyone tried bringing up the Apple calendar?

Is the signal strength of the LTE the same as on an AT&T phone when in the car?

Does the browser play flash?

Can you download and install Chrome extensions?

Has anyone tried playing a streaming video from any site? Like ESPN or MLB?

Can you have the browser as the top or bottom half of the screen?

There are so many intriguing possibilities; it would be a total shame to waste it in such an otherwise advanced car. My X is apparently in its second week of production, so hopefully I'll find out for myself soon. I've been looking forward to the browser app so I really hope I won't be disappointed the way some others seem to be.

No you can't do those things. The browser is completely locked down which is why it's slow. A lot of that is for security reasons but the inability to use Flash, stream video or install extensions is for safety. The browser can be positioned on the top, bottom or full screen like the other apps.

But can you open multiple tabs and are they remembered?

I was able to open my web email and display attachments, so I assume any other HTML based pages will display properly?

Anyone tried the apps on iCloud.com?

I've owned my Model S for 2+ years and I can count on both hands how many times I've used the browser. My phone is so much more powerful and functional...why waste time with the browser? Although I did bring up the Tesla time circuits on BTTF Day...that was cool.

No, the browser doesn't retain cookies, so any web login info will be cleared when the browser is closed or the car turns off. Also, there's no tabs either.

Is is possible to request a Verizon or Sprint SIM instead of AT&T? There isn't any AT&T coverage anywhere near my house, and the closest AT&T tower is over 18 miles away on the other side of a mountain.

No, not yet anyway. You could make your phone a hotspot and connect your Tesla to that if you want but you would be paying for that connectivity.

Yes, all Model Xs have LTE included (AT&T is the provider)

I had asked a similar question during my Model X test drive a couple of weeks ago. I was told by the Tesla advisor during my test drive that the first 4 years of service were covered by Tesla, and thereafter you would be able to change the SIM to another provider if you wanted to and that the "system" was unlocked (i.e. like a phone being unlocked).

I believe the lifetime service is only for the car's internal data systems connection. Entertainment systems such as Slacker/TuneIn are not included and it has been said that they will expire after 4 years. No one really knows for sure, as most of the MS' out on the road will only hit 4 years starting late 2016/early 2017. Then we'll know for sure what Tesla's policy will be.

does anyone actually use their web browser in their car ? I don't think i ever used it except for the time my buddy wanted to see if he could surf porn while on autopilot hahahaha, then I had to reboot the thing erase history  (btw he wasn't trying to do that while on AP, just wanted to prove the concept while parked we are not stupid , not that stupid anyway :D )
