battery fuse requires replacement soon? what is this?

I guess you could also use the Tesla App -> Service -> Ask a Question. This is what I wrote to Tesla:

battery fuse requires replacement soon? what is this?

I agree there is a lot Tesla Service could do better. It becomes more challenging when their goal is to have all communication via the Tesla app, which doesn't always work (I can't seem to book a service appointment with it right now). I know how annoying it is when they disconnect the...

battery fuse requires replacement soon? what is this?

It is common practice for Tesla Service to disconnect third-party dash cams while the car is in service. They'll disconnect it for any and all service. They most likely created this policy to avoid service people getting recorded saying inappropriate things.

Another front suspension control arm failure

The real question is how often do most other manufacturers recommend replacing control arms? This seems like a critical/safety part that should be one of the last things to fail on a vehicle. In some areas, Tesla shines (eg brake pads rarely need replacing), but in others they quietly fix...

2016 Model-X Catastrophic failure of rear control arm

Odometer has 122,621 km (76,193 miles). I do try to keep the car well maintained. It's parked in a garage every night and it regularly gets washed (more frequently in winter). When I switch over tires (winter / summer), I service the brakes. I'm certain it's not road salt. It's either a...

Sorry - noticed this was a Model-S forum, so I deleted this post and posted to the Model-X forum. My Model-X has 122,621km (76,193 miles)

2016 Model-X Catastrophic failure of rear control arm

I just had my 2016 Model X (Rear, Driver-side) control arm failure as I was about to get onto the highway. I made a left-hand turn and heard a clunk (thought it was a rock or gravel) and then noticed car pulling to the left. I tried to pull over to inspect just before getting onto the highway...

    App "Server Error"

Anyone else having issues connecting to their vehicle via Tesla App? It's been unavailable for me (in Southern Ontario, Canada) since Sunday (3+ days ago). I'm surprised I'm not finding more people reporting this issue, so I'm hoping its a regional issue, rather than something specific to my...

    Drivetrain "shimmy" a "feature"?

The original 2016-2019 Model-X had a suspension "flaw" that would develop and cause a shudder under extreme acceleration. It is minimized by keeping suspension on "very low" during hard acceleration. Tesla did do a OTA to change the default suspension setting to "low" to help reduce this...

Yeah, that's true. For more clarity, these 19" winter tires are beginning their 4th season, so they have been worn in already.

    Model X Ski/Snowbord Rack, awesome

I prefer to keep my snow equipment protected from the snow, salt and sand when driving to the mountains. If it's just me and my wife, I'll put the 2 boards in the X with the following custom tub I had made (old photo with protective plastic still in place): For longer trips with 4 boards...

Anyone riding 19" wheels? Range improvements?

Right after I switched to my 19" winter tires, I took a long road trip (>1000km return). It was colder, but not below freezing yet, and my car was predicting arriving at destinations with much lower battery (eg. 5%) than I'm used to, possibly due to the colder weather and rain. However, I...

What's the best way to charge with RV 5-30?

I just spent the weekend at a campsite that I visit every year. I mistakenly thought it was a 10-30 and when I tried to plug in, it wouldn't fit. Upon closer inspection, it's actually a RV 5-30 (or 5-30R or TT30). Not sure if it's clear from the photo, but it is clearly labelled "30A 125V"...

    Carrying Skis/Snowboards Model X, 6 seater

I have 2 ways of transporting snowboards. The first is when the whole family is going on a multi-day trip. I have a tray attached to the hitch with a weather-proof bag on top. The second is for shorter trips, or when it's only me and my wife. It's a custom Snowboard-Bin I designed and had...

Replace with generation two latches on pre-owned before delivery

Sorry for the confusion. I thought the "latches" mentioned were the actual latch actuators that physically keep the door shut. That's what my earlier post was referring to. Sounds like you were referring to the FWD door switches to open/close the doors. I still have the old pull/push switch...

Replace with generation two latches on pre-owned before delivery

I had one of my FWD latches go and took it in for replacement. I asked if they could do the other one before it fails and they said they can only replace once they fail. I'm in Canada, so you mileage may vary.

    Model-X life-hacks

FYI: After having to pull my console apart to get to a lost credit card, I did end up buying the above accessory. I modified it slightly by using 3M tape to connect a strip of foam weatherstripping (exact same width as console door) to the bottom of this accessory. It now prevents any cards...

Adding speakers and sub to non-pup X?

I've seen a few threads on after-market upgrades, but none for a while. Do a forum search. Below are a few hits: BTW, you wouldn't want to put anything into the Lift Gate because of lack of space and it would throw off the weight distribution, which would affect the auto-open and auto-close...

Why there can never be a "Tesla Killer" car

I can't disagree with you on that. I only hope that a lot of that is due to misrepresentation from desperate challengers (either shorters, old automotive, or oil/gas industry). The growing "Tesla Army" should be able to counter that in no time (12-24 months). As soon as the Tesla army is...

Why there can never be a "Tesla Killer" car

There are 2 points I'd like to make: (a) If someone is making a EV decision today, they will compare current charging infrastructure (assuming remote charging is important to them). Just because 5 years ago there wasn't any and a few early adopters managed without them, that has no bearings on...

Why there can never be a "Tesla Killer" car

Another point to counter @bxr140. In 2014 there wasn't any other infrastructure worth mentioning, besides Tesla. Therefore, no competition. In 2018 Tesla has largest and best infrastructure. Comparing any CCS/Chademo infrastructure to what Tesla had in 2014 is pointless, because no one is...

Why there can never be a "Tesla Killer" car

Why there can never be a "Tesla Killer" car

At the moment, Tesla is at the forefront of battery technology. Not only do they have the best battery tech, they also have the cheapest (win-win). Tesla is still in start-up mode and trying to innovate as quickly as possible. If a new production-ready battery technology gets developed, Tesla...

Why there can never be a "Tesla Killer" car

    First service

The following quote says a lot about how remarkably game-changing Tesla is: Basically, when I take my car in for service, I better get the same car as a loaner or I won't be happy. Even with all the issues, we'd still prefer to drive a Tesla. How many other auto-makers hear that? And yeah...

Editorial: Why it is safer to have creep mode ON rather than OFF.

I'm thinking that you're either experiencing momentum or gravity (due to a slight decline). Tesla is a lot more efficient than most vehicles, so if you have regen set to low (or circumventing regen by sligly pressing the accelerator), you'll coast a good while before coming to a stop.

One more parts saga for a minor fender bender

I disagree with your statement that Tesla doesn't care. They know it's a problem, (along with many other issues they need to solve) and have a long-term plan to address it. They plan to create their own body shops inside Tesla SC and stock common parts at these locations. I'm assuming they...

Sorry, I don't own any dogs. I use this to keep the trunk area clean and prevent things from flying forward during hard braking. However, the bonwen pet cover does go up pretty high. It reaches the bottom of the head rest in the 2nd row seats (I have a 6-seater) so I think it would do a good...

    BlackVue DR750S-2Ch Install Question

@BlueBird, if my memory is correct (this was almost 2 years ago), I too threaded the dashcam cable through the hole with the existing wiring harness. I don't recall that being the most difficult part. I found threading it through the flex-tubing to be much harder. I hope that helps...

I didn't need to use a cable-tie to get the cable from the cabin to the flex tubing. I managed to do it by just disconnecting the flex tubing from the frame and fishing the dashcam wire through. Once fished through to the frame, it will take some effort/time to fish it through the flex tubing...

Turning off regen and power limiting for increased range

The thing I like about regen braking is that it's a super smooth transition. When it comes to regen and braking (both regen braking and brake pads) is that you want to keep things as simple as possible. This is arguably one of the most important safety aspects of a car, so you don't want to...

    Bluetooth / iPhone X issues

You don't see Android users complaining about this issue, so I would be very skeptical that this is something Tesla can fix. I too have had this problem and rebooting my iPhone temporarily fixes this issue. I have a 2nd generation Apple Watch and Air Pods. I don't know exactly what...
