When did the official owners forums turn into a place for people to post ideas about solar panels and nuclear fusion (or perpetual motion) being a great idea for the Roadster and Model S? I guess it was with the site redesign and opening the forum up to the public (which is fine of course). TMC is also open to the public but has a much more focused and serious readership/following which I like. Actually the level of knowledge and helpfulness of people at TMC is amazing so I think it's one of the best forums I read. Just an observation on a slow Sunday I guess.

There was a time when this forum was similarly full of such postings.
I think many of those posters stopped bothering to post them here anymore because there are too many "sensible scientific minds" ready to refute anything which stretches the realm of possibility.
Actually some of those ideas might have some practical application someday, but this forum seems to have evolved to discussions of what is possible now, and maybe in the next year or so, but stays away from the wild speculation for the most part.
