I think I'm going to bite the bullet and purchase the winter tires from Tesla directly. I live in Chicago and have a 75 RWD car. Today, we got around 3-5 inches of snow and while my car handled it fine, traffic was light given the holiday today, I didn't feel as safe as I did in my prior Mercedes C300 AWD. I approached a slight incline this morning and the car barely made it over. Outside of tuning on chill turning off traction control, and standard braking, I'm not sure what else I can do to manage in a RWD car.
For the users who bought tires through this method, how long did it take from time of purchase to time to install? What does one do with their existing tires- or what is the best way to store them? Does Tesla charge the flat rate of $2,500 even if you swap out the tires? What is the general cost to get the all season tires placed back on after winter?
