Tesla Y sunshade install issue

I just tried installing Tesla brand sunshade. The right passenger side has an obvious bow and loose connection of headliner so clip doesn’t hold. When I opened package, there were 3 loose clips outside of the plastic clip bag so I suspect this may have been returned for the same reason. Thoughts? Experience returning “defective” parts to Tesla?

Try reversing the sunshade front to back.

I installed mine a few weeks ago and it was a pain in the ass.

I put mine in and found only way it stays up there is to use all the clips. It came with a bunch connected, and a bag of extra clips, but kept falling off while driving.

Thanks for suggestions. Tried reversing so Tesla logo facing roof, moved the bowed side to the left. Still too loose to engage clips especially with the gap. Guess I’ll find out about Tesla’s defective return policy. $120 too expensive to keep a product which doesn’t work.

A vendor with a different product suggested adding thin foam weatherstripping to the clips if there is a problem with the gap.

If you are talking about roof sunshade then yes it will bow out as it's a single piece. Many aftermarket sunshades switched to 2 piece design which will solve that.

I purchase my Tesla goodies from Amazon so there is rarely and return issues. Good Luck

Agreed. The one piece designs are decidedly inferior. The two piece designs are easier to install and the support in the middle prevents them from flapping when a window is open.

The sunshade for the rear portion of my wife's 2018 Model 3 is now in the trunk. The clips failed, front shade is still in place
