tire rotation for x

for 2017 mx 90d

as usual, checked the forum before posting, found a few posts on s and 3, not much on x. understandably because there is no rotation for oem tires since they are asymmetric.

however, i switched to 265s on 9" rims all around (no towing ever) as a couple other folks here...so the questions are...

1. should the tires be rotated now that they are the same?
2. how often? note these tires don't last long.....the oem contis had to be changed at 18K miles
3. if yes (to #1), should they be swapped in the same side (ie. LF>LR, RF>RR) or diagonally (i.e., LF>RR, RF>LR)?

thanks folks

Asymmetric tires can be rotated. What makes you think they can't? They would have to be both asymmetrical and directional, and if they were both (there are a very, very few tires that are like that) there would be an A tire and a B tire. The rotation in that case would be in the X fashion. They could not be rotated back to front.

Generally you only rotate tires so that all four will wear out at the same time, because it's best to replace all four tires.

A rule of thumb is to rotate if there is 2/32 or more difference in tread depth between the front and the rear.
