If I were you, I would read the Owner's Manual at least once before taking delivery. Every delivery site is different, but when I picked up, the Tesla Associate was happy to go over everything about the car and answer any questions. I had read the manual twice, but still had a few questions which I wrote down before going to delivery center.
As far as inspection, I wasn't allowed inside the vehicle before accepting delivery, so I basically just went over the outside closely to make sure there weren't any cosmetic flaws which needed attention. I didn't find any. After getting inside, I looked again for interior cosmetic flaws. Again, didn't find any.
