Yes, and at one time (long ago - in the time before the Prius) I would have wholeheartedly agreed with you. But today, with electric motors and batteries into the mix, the size of the eventual engine has less and less meaning. A better measure now would be how much power it can deliver to the road if you have to use anything other then size.
