Trunk light off in Romantic/Camp mode

I’d like to sit in the trunk, with the trunk open, while the car is in “Romance/Camp” mode but the trunk light cannot be turned off. Any ideas on how I can turn it off (of course, while the trunk is open)?

This is already a simple and elegant solution. You don't need to leave the dowel in the latch. You make the car think the hatch has closed by pushing the dowel into the latch. Then take it out sideways. If you want to impress a date with your technical prowess and elegance, this is the way to go.

Maybe the light could be controlled by the canbus then you could buy the S3XY buttons for $250 and ask that this functionality be added and then install their dongle into the ODB port (assuming you don't have a GigaTexas Model Y where this no longer works) and program a button to turn the light off. Then install that button so it's accessible from the back (like the latch already is). But this seems about as far removed from simple and elegant as possible, Using a custom button you installed to turn off the light like Austin Powers will not help you score points with a date.
