Tyre Silent or not Silent

Ive recently purchased a used Tesla Model S. The car has the original tyres on and they are continental but not the "Silent".

Ive ordered 4 tyres which I paid a premium for as they are marked as continental silent.

Here is the part that confuses me the most. The decibel rating on the silent tyres is 72db whilst other brands are 68db and are not marked as silent.

Have I wasted my money?

Maybe... I have had the silent and non silent, and it is really difficult for me to tell the difference. From everything I have googled, the db reduction is just in a certain frequency range, not overall. So it may benefit some listeners over others.

If it matters, I purchased new tires 4 weeks ago and did not pick silent this time. They sound great, but most new touring tires do. It might be that the foam tires sound better at 50% wear, but I have nothing to really back that up.

I hope you like them!
