Bottomed out pretty badly on my 3 week old car. Coming from an SUV and needless to say I took a corner a bit too sharp and piped over it. Luckily no damage to the tire, side panel paint or car in general as I was not going very fast. Sounded really bad though. But got a gnarly scrape on the undercarriage plastic trim and the metal where you would Jack up the car. Should I be worried about these scrapes.

Will this rust? If so what should I do to rectify?

I'm pretty sure that metal part is aluminum and wouldn't worry about it. I've never hit anything with mine, but have noticed a rough and dull silver look on mine, which makes me believe it's aluminum. Steel would have rusted already on my car. Also, I have a jack pad adapter with a magnet in the nub to help hold it in place and I have never felt it stick to the metal piece in question. It always just sticks to the steel above that part when stuck through the hole.
