Constant cracking sound in speakers; sporadic loss of audio

I've got this issue still and made a service appointment and advisor said that Tesla knows of it and will resolve with a FW update but no ETA. I pushed back as my issue is just (I think) with the right rear door speaker but they still said it was a software problem. I rebooted the car but...

2023 Model 3 RWD on phone via bluetooth speaker distortion/crackling

Same issue here. Although I notice the problem more when playing podcasts from my phone over bluetooth. I moved the balance of the sound system to front only and the issue isn't present then. Definitely annoying and I need to make a service appointment. Mine is mid year '22 LR.

Decisions... New RWD Model 3 $45,740 (with Dec discount) OR Used 2020 Long Range w/FSD $47,400?

If you have the tax liability I would wait for next year and just order a new one. Would be similar money in the end minus FSD and that's up to you to determine worth of.

The M3 as a space heater [climate control running while parked]

There is definitely some waste heat from charging though. So during those times your plumerias will be more content. Best thing for the plumerias would be to put them on insulated platform off the garage floor slab, think sleeping directly on the cold ground or an air mattress.

Traded my M3P for an RS3 - My thoughts on both cars for what it's worth

+1 to another who now just has no desire to mod my car and deal with any of the potential headaches. Mountain bikes I'm all in on still but cars, I just want zero issues first and foremost.

Traded my M3P for an RS3 - My thoughts on both cars for what it's worth

I'll admit that if I could somehow justify a 911 GT3 or Cayman GT4RS and could buy at msrp I'd have to do it. Having a performance ICE car for random fun rips or track days would certainly be enjoyable. Enjoy the the RS3.

2021 M3 LR Rocker Panel Paint Peeling

I used the Tesbros rocker panel ppt kit on my car and am impressed with the increased protection for the money. It should be done from the factory along with mud flaps IMO but oh well. I'm sure there are other kits as well. Pretty easy to do although the rocker kit is a little complicated as...

New vs. Used if ordering now>

Honestly your 2004 Prius is the perfect first vehicle for a conservative teen. As a parent though I do understand wanting your child in a safe car. Tough call but I'm also not sure the latest safety tech would make that much of a difference if he's a good driver.

Should I take out a loan or pay with cash?

EVs surely save money on transportation costs long term but at that savings level and income I'd highly also recommend a cheaper car. Bolt for next year with tax credit is your answer although you might not want to hear that.

A New Idea for Glass Roof Tint

Four years of use and I had no issues with the glass roof on our old '18 3. You should be fine. I've come to realize that the majority of heat entering the car is actually through the windshield. It's a huge piece and to my knowledge is not treated at all. Applying ceramic film there...

Safe to have a '17 LR Model-3 sit idle for ~11 weeks on a full charge?

I'd not charge to 95% and then leave it that long. Charge to 80% and then leave it and make sure to not check it on the app or have sentry mode on. Should be fine.

    Mudflap.... sealing

Yeah I wondered about that hole too. I installed Tesbro mud flaps recently and they have a little gap there too although the flaps go up higher than yours. I put some gorilla tape on on both sides of the mud flaps when I installed them (all black so not noticeable). I'll take if off if...

    Any reason to upgrade 2018 M3 for 2022 M3P?

No brainer not to IMO when used Tesla values are so high. The new cars are quite a bit better as the sum of all the new parts I think. Performance or not is still the same personal determination as to wether it's worth it or not.

Would You Order One with a Non-Glass Roof?

I'd rather NOT have the glass roof as well. Here in CO during the summer it lets in way too much heat via greenhouse effect. Currently have one of the sun shades installed on it and the medial half of the back glass as well to protect the kids in the back. I got a Model 3 again in spite of it...

    Anyone switch from a 2018/9 M3LR to a 2021/22 M3P pr M3LR

Taycan RWD. That said the latest model 3 is a huge step up from a '18. We just on Monday got a new LR 3 and it is by far the best put together one I've seen. Pretty polished now.

2022 Q2 production Model 3 missing matrix headlights?

Picked it up. Yes to Matrix headlights. Best built 3, out of four I've used and three I've owned as well.

Are you planning to own post-warranty?

We were planning on keeping past warranty as our original '18 had zero issues. Market for used cars made us sell and pick up another in January. Probably flipping again that car in a week for another 3 and making 4k. I wouldn't have a big worry keeping these cars long term. I think the...

    Second Tesla Considerations

Girl magnet then for yours ;) In all seriousness though, 6 years is a long time from now for that scenario and maybe in that time I won't even want her pumping gas and honestly I hope gas isn't so subsidized and it will make more sense for young drivers to have old Leafs or Kona EVs, etc

    Second Tesla Considerations

Partly because it could allow us to potentially go fully EV and hence sell the 4Runner. Additionally the Rivian has some pretty amazing suspension and seems like it can fulfill about 90% of peoples need for a sports car, sure no track car but for hustling back roads it seems to be that good...

    Second Tesla Considerations

I'd probably look for a single motor Ioniq5 or Ev6 if it were me. Something that has more cargo capacity and qualifies for full fed rebate. Different situation in that we have two cars currently but one ICE, similarly though my wife and I would prefer to have each have an EV for day to day...

Any Differences in 2022 Model 3s between Q1 and Q2?

Very early Q1 cars did not have Ryzen chip, 15v Li-Ion battery or the heated wiper dock. Main thing so far that I think could be different from Q1 to Q2 is double pane glass on rear windows however Tesla has not done that yet AFAIK.

Possible to lock M3 with cellphone in car?

Turn off bluetooth or just put phone in airplane mode and then use the keycard or the fob if you buy one to lock car. I do this sometimes when mountain biking and don't want to carry my phone.

PSA: Base M3LR price increases by $1K [03.10.2022]

    Model 3 performance ride quality

I don't think the LR or P has very good damping and I feel the bump stops are too big and not progressive. I will say our new '22 LR does ride much better than the 18 it replaced but I think Tesla could massively improve suspension performance if they wanted to. I will say that the extra heft...

Has anyone had a problem with dirty door sills after driving on wet roads?

Whether they do that much is debatable, I found they helped on my old '18 but they didn't budge on that car. I wiped down everything with alcohol first and used the adhesive promotor provided as well. As always ymmv.

To 19s or not to 19s? That is the question!

So on point 2, the 18"s could be better as that is unsprung mass. Wether or not that small amount of weight is discernible is another question, likely it's not, but I'd say that variable is not small enough to ignore completely.

Average age of Model 3 owners?

I didn't use voice commands much before v11, I use them often now. Mostly for heated seats and steering wheel as I often use those without wanting to turn on climate. So confirmation for ya that voice commands do work for that stuff.

Floor Mats, what to do with old ones?

A New Idea for Glass Roof Tint

It might trap some heat but I can say that the addition of that material between the shade and roof did make a difference from just the shade alone which did make a difference from nothing at all. Worth it my opinion. I'm in CO at 5k feet and above with summers that have months at a time in...

    Skid plate/undercarriage shield on 2022

My early '22 LR has the hard plastic front to back. I was very surprised to see this as I hadn't seen it mentioned much and very impressed with how much better it is than the old fiber junk.
