What is the USA content of the X
50% USA/Canadian according to the window sticker. Same for MS and M3.
Can't be the same for M3, I think. All of M3's battery cells are made in Nevada. MS and MX battery cells are made overseas.
I just said what is on the stickers says 50% on all three.. Maybe on the M3, that meant several thousand other parts were imported? Maybe as long as it's 50% or more, that is all they have to report, and they don't bother giving the exact percentage. I don't know.
Domesticated: The 'Most American' Cars And Trucks For 2017
"And because we know you're curious, the Tesla Model S and Model X are tied for 14th. place in the survey, with an estimated 75% domestic content."
I heard a rumor over a year ago that when the Model 3 went into production it would be the highest percentage American content car on the market. The difference from the S/X being the batteries.
I seem to recall that when the Model S deliveries to Canada started, the price for Canadian customers was substantially increased due to a government-imposed fee for not meeting a certain threshold of US parts content. Is this no longer the case, at least for Model 3?
