USB Posts and Hubs (3/2020 build)

Hello,

I've looked for an answers to USB questions in the forums to no avail. So apologies if these are repeats:
  • The manual indicates that a hub should not be used with the USB ports.
    • Will a hub really not work?
    • Will only certain USB hubs work?
    • Will only certain things work when connected to the hub?
    • What are the specs for these ports?
  • The manual does not say anything (that I can find) about the rear USB ports.
    • Are they as capable as the front USB ports (or charge only)?
    • What are the specs for these ports?
Thanks in advance for any info (or a pointer to a thread I missed).

Regards,
Neal

Manual Says
- The 12V power socket is suitable for
accessories requiring up to llA continuous
draw (15A peak) or a maximum of 150
continuous watts (180 watts peak).
- The Model S inductive phone charger can
charge your Qi-enabled smartphone at up to
7.5W of power.
- Note: Do not connect multiple devices using a
USB hub. This can prevent connected devices
from charging or from being recognized by
the Media Player. (Comment: Many use hubs without problems.)
- Do not use the rear USB ports (for Dashcam), as they are solely
meant for charging devices.

Thank you for the quick response.

  • The fact that many use hubs with no issues is what I was expecting (despite what I read in the manual). Are there any preferred, known good hubs for our vehicle?
  • I recall that the rear USB were power only, but could not find it in the manual (for our year car). Where is that?

Neal
