Valet mode and four digits code

I am wondering how or what the four digits code is used for. I do not see any need for it.

To enable valet mode and keep it engaged until you are ready to disengage it for your own use.
If not, the valet could turn it off and take a Bueller joyride.

I understand I have to hand out the card to whoever do the valet parking to drive the car. Isn’t this correct?

That's correct. The code though, is NOT for the valet. It is for you to disable valet mode after you return to you car. However, you can disable valet mode from the mobile app without entering the code.

make sure the valet (or whoever you're giving the car to) knows how to put the car in gear. i had my tires changed at america's tire a few weeks ago, and the guys at the shop figured out how to open the door with the key card but couldn't figure out how to either start the car or put it in gear. they had to ask me to pull it into the bay and then back it out when they were done.

maybe make sure to tell them they just need to sit in the car and step on the brake to "start" the car...
