Very high energy usage for the first 3 miles of a trip

When I go to work in the morning my energy graph is showing I use anywhere from 400-600 wh/mile for the first 3 miles then after that it starts dropping and stabilizes at 230-260

That Initial surge just from the car warming up as I drive it?
 
I would say it is just a lack of distance for it's calculation. Just as if you travel a long distance and then 'floor it' it would not impact the value much.
I think it's actually the warm up. I've noticed the same thing. If you have a short commute (and even over hundreds of miles), your energy efficiency ends up being really poor because the car needs to warm itself up.
