Water in the charge door - simple fix without replacement

I noticed that my Model S charge port flap was partially filled with water. But I had no idea how it got there.

The rubber seal inside was a bit lose and came-off easily. It revealed two pins and a tiny hole, which I widened with my drill. In addition, I drilled a hole at the bottom, in hopes the water would drain (it didn’t).

Fortunately, I have a compressor in my garage, for maintaining tire pressure. It came with a nifty little nozzle, almost as thin as a syringe (ball inflator). I blasted pressurized air into the flap, and water started draining out.

Then I cleaned all surfaces and reinstalled the seal. I used a special 3M VHB double sided tape, as I was worried that trim tape may be too thick.

The end result is very satisfying.
