What do your windows sound like?

Since I received my Model X 13 months ago, I’m getting a little frustrated with Tesla Denmark service. My windows have made horrible squealing sounds when opening and closing since I got my car (for the record, I really love this vehicle for the most part). Last week, service spent 3 days replacing every part related to the window.

In their words, they got it “mostly quiet except when it’s wet. Maybe 90%.” The remainder is, apparently, an “engineering” issue that no amount of parts replacement will fix - they’re telling me to live with it.

I’m not of a mind to pick a fight for the fun of it. But I’m really shocked that a car in this price range would make noises like this. If it’s an engineering issue, I’d expect every X to be similar, hence this post. After listening to these videos (first is wet, second is dry) and comparing to your own, do you think I’m expecting too much from the car? Or should I continue to escalate?

Appreciate your thoughts!

Quiet, compared to mine! Perhaps that’s why I almost never lower my windows.

Try applying Gummi Pfledge to the seals. You can find it on Amazon or the EU's equivalent.

Not a fix, but try waxing them or ceramic coating.

Also, is that aftermarket tint?

I’ve got a ceramic coating... didn’t help. Nor, frankly, should it be required! ;)

Standard tint. At least here in Denmark, don’t know if it differs elsewhere.

I listened to your videos a few times, trying to imagine what would cause those sounds. Can you tell if they are originating from the rubber weatherstripping area or are they deeper in the door?

I’ll keep an ear out and check next time.

Thanks for the tip! Again, shouldn’t have to, but given Tesla’s incompetence here I’ll have to see what I can do...
