What happens to warranty replaced parts? (Not sure where this thread belongs)

Does anyone know what happens to all of the parts that Tesla replaces under warranty? Are they thrown in a dumpster? Sent to Tesla to be refurbished? Refurbished at the SC?

I bet some go for failure analysis, some get refurbished and used in other warranty replacements (batteries or drive units), others may just be trashed. Tesla warranty, they can do as they please. Once you pay for replacements out of warranty, you should be able to ask for the old parts to go back to you (or get credit for trading them in).
