What is best practice when logging issues at delivery?

My wife and I are taking delivery of our MY shortly.

What is best practice when recording issues with panel gaps and defects at delivery?

Speak to your advisor? Log them in the app within 24 hours? Where is it best to document so your service advisor is aware, etc.?.

I want to ensure issues are remedied.

Thanks!

Take photos of every issue and make a service request in the app. Your SA will say yes or no to things but its up to the service people to give the ok. During my delivery, my SA said one of the panel gaps was within spec, I still submitted it anyways and got approved for fix.

All solid tips above are solid to document issues. My advice is to not take delivery of the car with oustanding issues you're not comfortable living with. You have lost all leverage to get anything fixed once you drive off the lot. If you have a discerning eye and are keen on attention to detail you will absolutely find an issue. I'm not buying it when folks say their vehicle was "absolutely flawless" at delivery.

I agree with Clark, but you also need to decide for yourself what is non-negotiable. For me paint issues, major panel gaps, and doors not closing would be non-negotiable (tho it seems they can generally fix doors before you leave the lot).

I also don’t really believe it when people say their delivery had no issues. I think that just means no issues they could identify or care about....but maybe you or I would’ve identified/cared about.

I took delivery 12/12 and went over my car very carefully. I noted a dozen different things I wouldn’t have found on any other premium car, but nothing serious enough for me to reject delivery. Seems most just accept that it’s not going to be built like a BMW and that’s just the way it is. I logged everything in app (I didn’t get a Delivery Specialist, they literally just handed me the key cards and pointed to which spot my car was) and setup an SC visit.

Dropped my car off at the SC after five days and I get it back Monday, so we’ll see if they improved upon the various gaps and fitment issues. None of them were “major” in that they did not inhibit or degrade any functionality, but they were noticeable to me. Seeing some stories, I made out well... but still, I want to see what one of these supposed “zero defect” cars looks like.
