Wheel Locks

As some of you may have heard, Owen Wilson had his wheels/rims taken off his Tesla recently. He lives about 2 blocks from me so I'm naturally nervous if/when I'm next.

Do the wheel locks on the Tesla site truly work? Or are thieves sophisticated enough to get around them?

They are (and it doesn't require much sophistication), but most thieves are interested in a quick score, so anything that might delay them they'll bypass (unless there is a very specific reason they want what you have).

Fun story, years ago I had some rather rare wheels on a car, protected with wheel locks. Someone wanted them, but rather than mess with the locks, they stole the whole car (quicker) and removed the wheels at their leisure. The police found the car several weeks later, minus the wheels.
