Why can the Tesla app open the frunk but not the trunk?

Why is the shortcut on the Tesla app to open the frunk? Isn’t the trunk much more utilized?

Because to open the trunk you have to manually lift it and there is a button on your car, under the lid. So, there is no need to get your phone out to open the trunk, why put a button there on the shortcut app.

If you really want one, download the stats app and put their widget on your phone. It has many more shortcuts and it doesn’t open the app or ask to confirm when you select a function like open frunk, trunk, charge port etc.

I have the Auto Open Frunk mod so when I’m returning to the car with groceries I pop it open using the App. The Frunk also has the bag holders, I use those a lot.

The trunk has a physical release button, while the frunk does not. Thus, the shortcut for the frunk. You can still use the app to open the trunk, it's just one more click into the "Controls" menu. Much easier than adding an auto-opening NFC tagged do-hicky.

No reason. I'd like the trunk button to be on the main page of the app also. Now it's buried in controls.

I just got the new fob, and didn't think I'd like this aspect of it, but I've used it to open the trunk and frunk several times in the days I've had it - very handy!

He had some instructions in the comments:

1. Grab yourself a set of NFC215 tags from Amazon
   
   
2. Download the ‘Remote for Tesla’ app
   
   
3. Assuming you have an iPhone on iOS13 launch the ‘Shortcuts app’, hit the automation tab and create a new personal automation.
   
   
4. Tap NFC
   
   
5. Scan an NFC tag and name it
   
   
6. Choose apps and find the Remote for Tesla app
   
   
7. Choose open the frunk command (I decided for no confirmation open)
   
   
8. Test it then place the NFC tag as pictured here: NFC tag Model 3 Frunk

YOU CAN open the TRUNK from the Tesla app version 3.10.0. Under the "Controls" tab, you can open both frunk AND trunk. However, the Trunk open button does not appear on the home screen of the app as the Frunk open button does. Odd.

They didn't ask if you CAN or CAN'T open the trunk from the app.

I don't even go into the app. If you expand the notification in Android, you get a shortcut right there for Unlock, Front Trunk, and Rear Trunk.

Yes, this is THE way to open the frunk. No confirmation and you don't even need to open the app or unlock your phone. For the trunk I always just lift it open.

Tap the downward pointing chevron in the Tesla app notfication, and it will expand, and look like this:

Ah, I forgot about this because I turned off the "always on" app notification.

Also, doesn't this only work if the phone is within bluetooth range?

They didn't ask if you CAN or CAN'T open the trunk from the app.

Honestly the title is a bit misleading, so i thought the same thing when i first read it. Also, the question in the body does not specify the home screen. I guess by typing “shortcut”, you could assume that though.
