Y dropped in price probably because of a combination of:
1.) Soft demand
2.) Factoring in future expansion plans at the Freemont plant => Higher production volume = lower costs
3.) Further harmonization of the parts used in both the 3 and Y = further cost savings
IMO, the Model Y performance doesn't really make any sense: Staggered tires, bigger rims/thinner tires, lowered suspension, lower range. It takes a lot of the "utility" out of a CUV.
