Wifi keeps disconnecting.

Parked in the garage with a strong wifi signal, a full 5 bars on WiFi and only 2 bars of LTE.
It seems to show connected but it still has the spinning circle and after 5 seconds wifi goes off and its connected back to LTE.
Keeps doing this and does not stay connected to wifi.

Tried to connect to a different router and I get a message:
Could Not Join
Unable to obtain IP address. Please check DHCP
server settings.

does your phone connect to that wifi, using the same user/pass info?

dhcp is what assigns addresses and is usually in the 'router'. try rebooting the router.

Yes phone is connected to the same wifi, so yes same password also.
Rebooted router same issue.

could you be running out of ip's? try NOT using your phone on that wifi to free up a slot. long-shot but worth a try.

to get deeper, would have to look at router logs to see if its an rf handshake issue or authen issue or really dhcp.

you dont name your 2.4 and 5ghz ssid's the same, do you? also a long shot but I always give the separate names.

Not even near running out of IP's.
Plenty of open slots.
2.4 and 5 have different names

I've having similar issues in garage but only while I've been on 2021.12.25.7

No idea if it's related or coincidence.

at this point, have someone try connecting in the garage while you look at the router log. that's the last place for any hint of info. (we cant tail-f the syslog on the car, sigh)

Try the basic, reboot the car? Solved it for me last year

on the car side, removing the entry and readding it MIGHT fix any internal data struct messups.

Did the two thumb Tesla Salute and 4 minutes later Wifi was working again.
I think 25.7 update caused the issue.

Cool.
It helped me about a year ago. Could be 25.7 or a release a year ago. You never know, they don't tell us all the bug fixes and changes.

so, a totally misleading error. great. it seems that tesla GOT an ip addr but just threw up its arms and blamed the router for no reason?

how weird.

[rant] someone, here, was trying to argue to use wifi for camera comms, since some wiring on the harness is not there for extra cameras. if tesla (and others, to be fair) can't get wifi to be ROCK solid, you just cant depend on it for mission critical things.

people should really become realists. wifi has its place, but its not reliable enough to bet your life on it. its for some things, but its not a replacement for all things that would need to send data. [/rant]

I’ve had issues with WPA3 and both my Wall Connector and Model 3. It’s disabled for the time being (WPA3).

yeah, turn off any 'new' protocols. totally not needed and might only confused the older tech.

I have had trouble with connecting my 2018 LR M3 to 5ghz. Try connecting to the 2.4 ghz network. I created a guest network with a different name and connect the car to that network. I find my Tesla stays connected better to 2.4 than to the 5 network.
