All that equipment looks like a traditional (non-urban) Supercharger installation.Hoping for the best, but I doubt even the under construction chargers are v3.
I just snapped some pictures of the equipment at the chico location, maybe someone can see a difference?
Chico Supercharger
That article is just restating what the post above yours has said, citing the Redditor who claimed inside knowledge. I will say that those details seem quite believable, though.Well it looks like it's not going to be in California. None of the known under construction sites will be ready to go online by Wednesday. In addition, there's this article mentioning Washington state as being first.
Tesla Supercharger V3.0 will be 200 kW and liquid-cooled, says source
But just to stay on topic, i suspect the first v3 SChrgr in California will be closer to southern Ca, perhaps LA area.
Oh boy, a charging cable the size of a fire hose. I can't wait
...and making sure the pins in the charge port don't overheat. The point of the liquid cooling is having thinner cables.
I agree, but I guess I just can't make any humor without someone taking too seriously. That's all it was, just a poor attempt to lighten up the thread a bit.The point of the liquid cooling is having thinner cables.
Probably won't be any thinner than current ones.
I would be very curious to access the current location of Elon's private jet?Interesting could be at the gigafactory in NV, would explain why we have no idea where it is

Yes, that was at the Mountain View CA Supercharger about 3 years ago. Tesla installed thinner, water-cooled cables there as an experiment. They were removed later that year, I think. From the leaked rumor: "Redditor NetBrown, citing a source that’s familiar with the Supercharger 3.0 project, indicates that the charger will have a built-in coolant system at the base of the unit that pumps fluid through a thinner charging cable."
Also, the liquid cooled cables that Tesla tried out at on Superchargers in the past was thinner than the current ones.
My money is on one of the first ones being Mountain View, CA. Besides being one of the most heavily used superchargers in the country (and the most heavily used for much of its life), it also has the distinct pleasure of being one of the most frequently broken superchargers. A few weeks ago, I was getting a comically bad charge speed (and possibly other problems, I forget), and I called to report it, and they said that only one single cord in the entire place was reading as healthy at that particular moment. So 11 of them were charging at below normal speeds because of equipment malfunctions.
So GigaFactory1 for the first GigaCharger seems to be a perfect candidate. If it is going live at 8 PM tonight I would think we would have heard about it being down while they ripped it out and re-did it. It must be a new site that hasn't been properly inspected by the community...
Gigafactory1 isn't really that close to the interstate and there aren't a lot of facilities in Clark so I doubt it would be that close to the Gigafactory. They could put something at one of the casinos in Reno or Sparks (and there's talk of the Eldorado being a future Supercharger site). That would be a lot closer to the highway and would have 24 hour amenities. So GigaFactory1 for the first GigaCharger seems to be a perfect candidate.
For the First presentation there is only a need of a single (1) GigaSuperchagerGigafactory1 isn't really that close to the interstate and there aren't a lot of facilities in Clark so I doubt it would be that close to the Gigafactory. They could put something at one of the casinos in Reno or Sparks (and there's talk of the Eldorado being a future Supercharger site). Hopefully all will be unveiled tonight!
