Will first V3 Supercharger be in California? UPDATE: looks like Fremont

Well it looks like it's not going to be in California. None of the known under construction sites will be ready to go online by Wednesday. In addition, there's this article mentioning Washington state as being first.

Tesla Supercharger V3.0 will be 200 kW and liquid-cooled, says source

But just to stay on topic, i suspect the first v3 SChrgr in California will be closer to southern Ca, perhaps LA area.
That article is just restating what the post above yours has said, citing the Redditor who claimed inside knowledge. I will say that those details seem quite believable, though.

Probably won't be any thinner than current ones.

From the leaked rumor: "Redditor NetBrown, citing a source that’s familiar with the Supercharger 3.0 project, indicates that the charger will have a built-in coolant system at the base of the unit that pumps fluid through a thinner charging cable."

Also, the liquid cooled cables that Tesla tried out at on Superchargers in the past was thinner than the current ones.

My money is on one of the first ones being Mountain View, CA. Besides being one of the most heavily used superchargers in the country (and the most heavily used for much of its life), it also has the distinct pleasure of being one of the most frequently broken superchargers. A few weeks ago, I was getting a comically bad charge speed (and possibly other problems, I forget), and I called to report it, and they said that only one single cord in the entire place was reading as healthy at that particular moment. So 11 of them were charging at below normal speeds because of equipment malfunctions.

And this has been my experience more often than not at that location. There was a rumor that as soon as the Sunnyvale and Cupertino superchargers came online, they were going to rip out Mountain View and rewire it. I'd imagine they were waiting for the new v3 hardware.

Any idea how the presentation, if any, will occur?

I remember the swapping battery event where there was an Audi A8 filling a gas tank while a Model S was getting (a facelift) a new battery!

It would be amusing to see a Porche or an Audi using a CCS charger at the same time as a Model S using a new GigaCharger!

Yes, that was at the Mountain View CA Supercharger about 3 years ago. Tesla installed thinner, water-cooled cables there as an experiment. They were removed later that year, I think.

If it is going live at 8 PM tonight I would think we would have heard about it being down while they ripped it out and re-did it. It must be a new site that hasn't been properly inspected by the community...

So GigaFactory1 for the first GigaCharger seems to be a perfect candidate.
Gigafactory1 isn't really that close to the interstate and there aren't a lot of facilities in Clark so I doubt it would be that close to the Gigafactory. They could put something at one of the casinos in Reno or Sparks (and there's talk of the Eldorado being a future Supercharger site). That would be a lot closer to the highway and would have 24 hour amenities.

Hopefully all will be unveiled tonight!

For the First presentation there is only a need of a single (1) GigaSuperchager
and the #1 GigaFactory's choke point pipeline production at GigaFactory 1 must be the charging of the batteries.

Got it? 1 + 1 + 1 = First :) :p:D:rolleyes:
