You can install our site as a web app on your iOS device by utilizing the Add to Home Screen feature in Safari. Please see this thread for more details on this.

Usually they open 2 inches when you "vent" them, which you can do from the app. I'm not sure why they would be vented on approach though if you purposefully didn't touch anything.
Do you have any climate controls set? Maybe the "No A/C" option does automatic venting to keep the car cool occasionally? Just a shot in the dark.
