A couple more points on the Pearl. If you use it relatively infrequently, it tends to want to do a software update when you just want to reverse out of the garage. This is a pain. It also sometimes asks you to connect to wifi to do an upgrade and it's not obvious where to find the password for the unit (its hiding in the about section of the iPhone app). If you want a second person to access the Pearl, they have to use that password to login and register their Phone with the car.

There's also a limitation, you can't connect to more than one Pearl unit, so you can't use this on two different cars.

The startup delay and picture quality have got better over time, but it's still a fiddly thing to get going with, when you just want to drive.

Thanks for that, Adrian. I think there's a reason the company folded. The product wasn't ready for primetime sadly.
